Can you help with our Bushfire Appeal?

As our hearts go out to the many, many Victorians who have lost loved ones and everything that they own, Monica from Beyond Pink & Blue is organising Rainbow Comfort Packs for children who are affected by this tragedy. They will contain new items such as books, softies to hug, activities packs, crayons and those sorts of things.

Poss Bloss is helping out by donating library bags to put the comfort packs in. Are you able to help by making a library bag or two?

If you are, then that is fantastic. Drop me a line at jodie@possbloss.com.au to let me know. My postal address is PO Box 97, Cockatoo, Vic 3781.

Below are some very simple instructions & dimensions on how to make the bags.
(a) 1 piece of 45cm x 90cm fabric
(b) 1 piece of 24cm x 28cm fabric for a pocket which is optional

120cm long piece of cord
1 toggle & a couple of cord ends which again are optional.

Ok, this is how I make the bags, but feel free to do it however you wish!
  • Overlock edges to pieces (a - all but 1 large side) & (b)
  • Fold over a large edge on piece (b) about 2cm and sew seam across.
  • Pin (b) in place on folded (a) with all overlocked edges folded under - I usually press them
  • Open piece (a) and sew on pocket which you have pinned.
  • Turn (a) inside out and fold in half matching side edges. Measure 6cm from top at side edges and place a pin to mark. Sew in straight stitch to bottom from this 6 cm top pin and give yourself a good seam allowance of about 1.5 cm. Once sewn, open seam and press.
  • Overlock bottom together.
  • Fold Over top heam (should be 3cm) and press into place.
  • Sew in straight stitch around the entire top at the bottom of the 3cm (probably the top edge of the overlocking hem)
  • Feed through cord and add toggle and cord ends if you are using them.
Please contact me if you have any queries at jodie@possbloss.com.au or phone me on 0408 536 743.

We are hoping to get the packs to Emergency Relief Centers around Victoria asap but it will hopefully be going for a little while so don't panic if you can't get them done immediately.

I know that there are so many ways in which people can and are helping, hopefully we too can make a tiny difference.

Thanks mate for doing this!!
You are a star. Actually everyone is rather amazing. And why not? We are the lucky ones in this horrible event and we need to do what we are able to do, as a community.
